Music in the City Dates: 3rd Friday of each month, October 2013 through April 2014 (no concert in December). The series showcases regional and national talent in the music styles of folk, blues, jazz, bluegrass, soft rock and more. Enjoy first class entertainment in a first class small and intimate setting. Music in the City - Joe McQueen & Quartet
Legendary saxophonist Joe McQueen and his quartet will be on stage Friday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. at part of the Music in the City concert series.
Over the years, Joe McQueen has had the distinction of being the first African American musician to play white clubs in Ogden, as well as being the first African American to attend white clubs in Salt Lake City, when Dizzy Gillespie put Joe on the guest list.
Through succeeding years, Joe has had the opportunity to perform with music legends Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Ray Charles, Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong, Cab Calloway, Charlie Parker and many others.
At the seasoned age of 94 Joe McQueen is not slowing down. He continues to perform over 60 shows a year with his quartet featuring Ryan Conger on Hammond organ, Brad Wright on guitar and Dr. Don Keipp on drums.
Admission is $10 adult, $6 with student ID. Tickets available online or at the door.
