ART-TELL 2010
A Themed Art Show and Competition at the Fine Arts Center, Brigham City February 25-27, 2010
Shown here is Colleen Bradford of Brigham City with her winning “Best of Show” ART-TELL entry “Olive Trees on the Mediterranean”. Thirty-six themed entries were featured. ART-TELL winners were announced Saturday February 27th at the end of the weekend event at the Fine Arts Center in Brigham City. See story below.
Other ART-TELL winners in this year’s “Up a Tree” themed contest include: Darnel Haney of Ogden , First Place Painting for “Defiled”, a black and white painting of a lynching scene, Michael Calles of Brigham City, Second Place Painting for “Little Bear” an oil painting of a wolverine on a large tree branch, and Norine Welk Risk of Brigham City Third Place Painting/Drawing for a Bic pen drawing, entitled “Farm Scene”. A Photography category recognized Micheal Goates of Brigham City first place for “Tree Parasites”, Philip Reyes second place for “A Good Lesson for Grandpa” and John Taylor of Tremonton, Third Place for “ Up a Tree” , a great angle on a tree ablaze in red fall foliage. Paulette Johnson of Ogden won “Best of Theme”. Her mixed media piece entitled “Green Hills” was a fascinating collage made up solely of tree leaves The People’s Choice Award went to Lee Baron for his painting of a Cougar in a tree.

ART-TELL is an annual event- the theme for 2011 will be announced by June 1st.
ELIGIBILITY: Original art work by persons 16 years or more and residents of Northern Utah, (Box Elder, Cache, and Weber Counties). Up to two items may be submitted, but we reserve the right to display only one piece of art work per person. Art work previously winning prizes at the Brigham City Museum/Gallery or Box Elder County Fair will not be eligible for contest awards.
SPECIFICATIONS: 1. There is an entry fee of $5 per submission. 2. All art work will include a statement about the artwork in 25 words or less, and relate it to the year’s theme (open to your interpretation and due on submission.) 3. All art work must be ready to be hung or set out for exhibit. Photos, drawings, and paintings need to be framed and wired for hanging. 4. The recommended largest size is 4 feet in any direction. 5. Art work chosen for exhibit cannot be picked up early.
CATEGORIES: Judges may determine awards in any of the following categories: Most Representative of Theme, Best of Show, and honorable mentions. There will also be a People’s Choice award. Minimum prizes of $75, $30 and $30. Art work to be judged by local artist panel, TBA.
CALENDAR: Dates are from 2010 and will be changed for next year after November 2010 February 22nd 3-5 pm Okay to call to arrange artwork drop off, if Tuesday or Wednesday is difficult. February23rd-24th : (Tuesday and Wednesday) 12:30 pm to 7pm, entries received. February25th: Entries judged in am . Exhibit opening in pm. For Fund Raiser Dinner. February 26 and 27 : ( Friday and Saturday ) Exhibit open 11 to 9 pm. Friday and 11 am to 7:00 pm. Soup lunch for sale. February27th: ( Saturday) Reception and awards tentatively set for 7:00 pm ( art work may be picked up after 7:30 pm) March 1 ( Monday ) 3 to 8 pm : Pick up art work if not already collected.
