IMPROV FACTION:  This program, open to tenth grade through first year college students, meets on Thursday afternoons, 5 to 6 p.m., under the direction of Barbara Dawson.  Check the website at www.bcfineartscenter.org or contact Barbara Dawson at 723-2741 for additional information.

 

ADULT IMPROV:  Did you ever wish you could do theatre or try your luck at adlibbing?  You’re never too old!! ( Plan ages 21 to 92) This will be a chance to try improv games and develop your skills in a fun environment.  Improv games facilitated by Barbara Dawson and Courtney Reeder Earl.  An initial gathering is set for Saturday, February 6, from 8 to 9:30 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center.    A donation of $3 per  person is suggested.  Light refreshments will be served.  If there is interest an ongoing  weekly or bi-weekly Improv activity is possible. 

 

STORYTELLING CONTEST:  Friday, February 12, 4-6 p.m.  Open to studetns and adults starting at 1st grade.  Participants will be judged in at least three different age categories. Cash prizes of at least $15 for youth winners $25 for adults.  Contest winners will be invited to perform at ART-TELL 2010 on Friday or Saturday evening February 26 or 27th. .   There is no entrance fee, but pre-registration  is requested by Wednesday February 10th.

 

ART-TELL 2010: The third annual ART-Tell is scheduled for February 25-27, at the Fine Arts Center.  Theme for this year is “Up a Tree” and guidelines for entries are included at Call for Entries link.    Included in the event will be a fundraiser preview dinner on Thursday evening, plus soup lunch on Friday and Saturday as part of the art show and storytelling event.

 

NEW C LASSES: The following classes were scheduled to start the end of January, but if not enough  phone registrations the day before, will wait one extra week to see if enough interested students materialize.            

           Teen Drumming:  Wednesdays, 4 to 5 p.m., beginning group drumming.  Classes will cover basic rhythms, as well as African and Arabic drumming styles., taught by Nathan Chappell.  Owning a drum is not necessary..  Six-week class, $30 fee.  Class size is limited, so call soon. we eventually hope to develop a drum corps.
