Summer Camps & Programs 2017

Summer Art Camps at the Fine Arts Center 
We offer a wide range of activities, watch newspapers or website for additional Wed. & Sat. activities.

Download and Print Registration form.  Along with registration links below, we need a new registration form filled out for your family/child each year in June. These will be at the Fine Arts Center when you first bring your student in for a camp or to save time you can download the family/child registration form, fill in the information, sign and bring it or send it with your student(s) Only one form needed per family.

Story Hour:  Fridays
for 10 weeks, June 2 - August 4. For ages 2 to 7 years, 10 - 11 am. Includes stories, songs, crafts, and puppetry.  $5 per child or $15 per family for all 10 weeks or $1 Per week.  

Make Your Own Picture Book:  4 days: Monday through Thursday June 5 – June 8.  9 to 11:30 am.  Learn how to write, organize, and add artwork to a story. Children will write and illustrate their own original story book. For ages 8 to 15 years of age.  Presentation for family on Thursday, June 8, at 10:30 am. Cost is $40 and includes materials. 

Garage Band 101-  Wednesdays 3-5 pm June 7 through August  9.  For teens and young adults-  Ideal for young singer/song writers, aspiring vocalists and serious  students who have learned an  instrument's  basics  and want a chance to do something more with it. This workshop program will help students learn to work together as a band, learn  a variety of music genres  from popular songs to originals. They will also learn about  professional sound equipment.  
      Free introductory meeting set for Wed. May 31 -See Garage Band 101 link for more info.  The class will end with a concert . Instructor is Aaron Stokes. Space limited, Cost is  $50 for all 10 weeks - some scholarships available.  Please call to register, or registration can be done at the May 31st meeting.  

Brigham City Fine Arts Center Summer Nature Camp 2017

Nature Camp:  Monday through Friday June12-16.  Held at the James V. Hansen Wildlife Education Center (Bear River Bird Refuge) just west of Brigham City: 2155 West Forest Street, Take  I-15 exit # 363, then go west ¼ mile. Enjoy a week of nature walks, hands-on learning, writing, sketching, sculpting, crafts, and exploring in this combined nature and art camp. Class is from 9 am to 1:30 pm for ages 8 to 15.  Program for parents on Friday afternoon at 12:30 pm.  Please register and pay in advance at the Fine Arts Center. Cost $60. As of this notice, there is only one space left for camp.  Please call the Fine Arts Center to check on registration or get on a wait list  435-723-0740.

Art Exploration Camps:  (4 days in one week) Mon-Thurs,  9 am to 2 pm.  Art, Music, Crafts, Theatre, puppetry and science for ages 5 to 15 years.  Different themes are offered each session.  Cost is $60 per student per session, family discounts and scholarships available. Each week ends with class presentations.           
                                                Session  #1   June 19-22  - “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” 

Session  #2   July 10-13  -  “Lights, Camera, Action”  

                                                Session  #3   July 31-Aug 3 -  “Penguins, Polar Bears and the Polar Ice Caps”   

Theatre camps:  (Elementary and Intermediate) Sign up for one of 2 different weeks of camp
    Session 1: Monday - Friday,  June 26 – June 30. There will be a final performance on Friday afternoon.             
            For TWO different AGE GROUPS:
            Grades 1-3 meet 9-10 am  $25.     Grades 4 and up bring a sack lunch and meet 10 am-2 pm. $55.
    Session 2:  Tuesday through Friday, July 25 – 28,  Theatre camp for ages 11 and up, 10 am-2 pm,  $55.


Puppets on Parade:  5 days- Monday through Friday, July 17 - 21.  9 am - 2 pm.   Musical theater and puppetry are combined for a week of fun, culminating Friday in a formal show at 4 and 7 pm. Dance, music, live acting and puppetry are included. Limited enrollment for  4-12th  grade. Cost is $55 for the week.

Drawing with Adrian Van Suchtelen :  For Adults and High school students.  5-days:  Monday through Friday, August 14 - 18 from  9am to 12 noon.  Learn from noted Adrian Van Suchtelen, art professor and regionally recognized artist.  Finish with a completed drawing .   Cost is $150 for the 5 day session, $100 for students and  $130  for seniors.

Pay it forward, Youth in Action: Meets year round
Wednesdays  3:45 - 5:00 pm  - Ongoing
Youth ages 12-15 yrs. old. 
Class fee: FREE
Pay it Forward is a volunteer group for youth. There is a mentor, a regular meeting time (if there is not a special activity that week), a variety of activities to try out and a chance to help be an active part of the planning. More Pay it forward Information here 

Improv Faction:
Thursdays 5-6 pm -
Ages: 9th grade and up. 

Try your hand at improvisation!!! Improv Faction invites students 9th through 12th grade and up to join them for weekly improvisation fun at the Fine Arts Center. Everyone is welcome! There is no fee for participating youth.

This Improv Faction group will also periodically have the opportunity to perform for special community programs.

The sessions are moderated by Bruce Baird with  over 6 years of improv experience.  He will be helping students learn and develop poise, wit, humor, ad-libbing, and characterization skills on stage. Interested students are welcome to stop in for a session or call for more information. Stop in to watch or to try it out in this fun and supportive environment.

Adult Paint Party: Second Saturday of the month from 1-3 pm.  October through May.  Learn to paint in a fun, social atmosphere. Go home with a completed painting (oil or acrylic). $15 - includes instruction, supplies, refreshments. Please reserve your spot in advance!
