YOUTH ART CONTEST

Entries due April 2nd, 2020


 Contest entries are due Thursday, April 2nd by 4:00 pm. Pick a story and plan a picture that could be used in a book about it (as an Illustration). The story can be one that is made up, or from any book the student has read.
2. Create your vertical (portrait) format ORIGINAL* picture on a 8 ½ wide X 11 inch piece of paper. You can use colored pencil, water-color pencils, colored pens, regular watercolor paints, felt tip pens, charcoal pencil, crayon, construction paper, torn tissue paper collage, or any other 2 dimensional media you choose. (* No copied images or use of known cartoon characters.)
3. Complete the parent permission form on the next page. Email a picture of your artwork with the registration information (also listed on the next page). Email to: arttell2020@gmail.com. One picture of artwork per entry.

Winning prizes of $20 and $50 will be awarded along with gift certificates to some of our workshops. All entrants must be from Weber, Box Elder, or Cache County and in grades K-12.


CATEGORIES: Contestants will be judged by grade/age level with 4 categories
Grades K-2, grades 3-5, grades 6-9,10-12(One entry allowed per student.)

YOUTH STORYTELLING COMPETITION

Entries due April 2nd, 2020


Contest entries are due Thursday, April 2nd at 4:00 pm. Pick a story you can tell out loud in less than 5 minutes. Video record yourself retelling the story once you have it memorized. Judges will be watching for aspects like:

Having your story memorized, Engaging introduction, poise, enunciation, voice expression,  facial expression, body language, appropriate gestures, pacing, enthusiasm, connection, satisfying ending, and uniqueness of telling.


 Students will be expected to start by announcing their name , the title of their story and the author  or source  of the story.   Videos  need to be 3 to 5  minutes in length and if too large to email, we suggest you use a web transfer or cloud service (like wetransfer.com) to send us a link with permissions to download the video at arttell2020@gmail.com.


There is no fee for entering. Winners will be invited to perform at a future event at the Fine Arts Center.  Winning prizes of $20 and $50 will be awarded along with gift certificates to some of our workshops.  All entrants must be from Weber, Box Elder, or Cache County, and in grades K-12.


A submitted consent form, available on the next page, is required  for the  entry.  One entry per student. Also required is an email with the registration information listed in a blue box on the next page.  For questions call us at 435-723-0740.

As part of ART-TELL, The Fine Arts Center of Brigham City is sponsoring its annual youth Art and Storytelling Contests online this year. Plans are to then displayed them on our website website and/or Face book.  We are inviting youth  grades K-12 from Box Elder, Cache and Weber Counties to participate. 

*We also  are still looking  at a possible later follow through with our adult/high school themed art competition and exhibit.   Check back later in April for details.*
